Check-in at the A-ROSA Ifen Hotel Kleinwalsertal

Our Indulgence in Austria The welcome begins right from check-in at the A-ROSA Ifen Hotel Kleinwalsertal. Instead of filling out the registration forms at reception, as is usually the case in hotels, we are immediately shown to the cozy lobby library. There, we quench our thirst with a glass of orange juice. As if on cue, the receptionist places the registration papers on the table and says, "When you're ready, we'll be happy to show you your room." In the meantime, our luggage is taken from the car. Attentive staff park the vehicle in the hotel garage. Even at check-in, we feel welcome at this five-star hotel in Hirschegg. Kleinwalsertal.

Rooms at the A-ROSA Ifen Hotel Kleinwalsertal

Our room is on the top floor of the building. From there, we look down toward Riezlern. On the day of our arrival, the sun is shining, making it hot and humid. However, we don't notice any of this in the room. We can relax in a comfortable temperature. Our guide explains everything we need to know. We especially appreciate the fact that the non-alcoholic drinks in the minibar are free. A feature we gladly take advantage of during our stay.

Subtle colors

The room itself - like the hotel - furnished in beige and wood tones and distracts so not from the grandiose nature in front of the window front. The Italian architect Lorenzo Bellini has also designed the interior of the hotel. Furniture, lamps and accessories are creations of the architect for the hotel. He chose wood and granite as materials, thus providing the hotel with warm red, brown, beige and gray tones that create a cozy atmosphere. Therefore, the device does not detract from the prospects.

Public areas at the A-ROSA Ifen Hotel

The public areas of the A-ROSA Ifen Hotel, between the lobby and the restaurant, are inviting. They feature seating areas along a window front. We meet friends there, enjoy a drink before dinner, and simply relax after the many impressions the valley has to offer. I also find the open library corner particularly pleasant, with its interesting books that invite you to browse. Just the thing for a bookworm like me!

Friendly service

The staff at the A-ROSA Ifen Hotel are incredibly friendly. After just one day, they already knew us by name, a fact we greatly appreciated. On our second evening, Hotel Director Nikolaus Jäger personally welcomed us with a welcome drink, along with other guests. This allowed us to make new and friendly connections with other hotel guests right from the start. During our visits to the hotel's restaurant and bar, we received excellent service. Their approach to guests went far beyond the standard service found in many hotels. For example, at dinner, the waiter asked us what we had done during the day and gave us fantastic tips for activities in the region, which we happily put into practice over the next few days.

Slow down in the Puria Spa

The hotel was kind enough to invite us for a facial at the hotel's Puria Spa. An experience I wouldn't want to miss. Firstly, because of the effect the cleansing and care had on my skin, stressed by the sun, wind, and sea. Secondly, because of the friendly manner of the young lady in the spa, who simply lets me relax. I started chatting with her and asked her if and why she liked the Ifen Hotel. She laughed and said, "Of course!" "May I publish this?" I asked, laughing. And she said, "I'd love to."

Already Heinz Rühmann felt comfortable here

We are not the first to feel at home in the A-ROSA Ifen Hotel. Since its opening in 1936, the hotel has played a significant role in the Kleinwalsertal valley: During the Second World War, it served as an "honorary prison" for prominent prisoners of war. It has also been a meeting place for important personalities, including the philosopher Theodor W. Adorno and the actor Heinz Rühmann, who even filmed a movie at the Hotel Ifen.

Head chef Sascha Kemmerer contributes greatly to the hotel's welcoming atmosphere. He has earned a Michelin star and 16 Gault Millau points. In the gourmet restaurant "Kilian Stuba," he reinterprets the regional roots of Walser cuisine. He was on vacation during our visit, so we were unable to sample his culinary skills. But the kitchen crew's cuisine is impressive even without its master. We dine excellently in the Ifen Hotel's restaurant.

Our Conclusion

Our verdict on the A.ROSA Ifen Hotel! A hotel that we can wholeheartedly recommend, with friendly service and a feel-good factor that's hard to beat. The hotel played a major role in making our three days in Kleinwalsertal so wonderful. Vorarlberg become a special experience.
