Krainerhütte – seminar hotel in the countryside near Baden

Surrounded by the densely forested hills of the Wienerwald The event and seminar hotel Krainerhütte is located on the Schwechat River, not far from Baden near Vienna in Lower Austria. We are on our Gourmet tours through Lower Austria We've driven past this hotel several times, as the large hotel complex on the B210 in the Helenental Valley is impossible to miss. However, we had no idea what lay behind it. Petar and I spent a day there as individual guests. We weren't the typical guests of this hotel, which has established itself as an event and seminar hotel. It's mostly visited by groups who use the hotel facilities for seminars and events.

The Spirit Park of the Krainerhütte: Experience mindfulness in nature

What impressed us most was Spirit Park, a 50.000-square-meter park located directly adjacent to the hotel building on the banks of the Schwechat River. When we arrived at the hotel around lunchtime, our rooms weren't ready yet, so we had time to explore the park at our leisure. That's a good thing! Because this way, we took the time to truly experience each of the park's stops.

What is the Krainerhütte Spirit Park?

Something amazing happens: What initially appears to me to be a randomly assembled collection of healing sites from various indigenous cultures around the world turns out to be a collection of diverse power places, which we leave strengthened and filled with inner peace during our short stay. The only thing needed is time and the willingness to engage with these power places.

Mindfulness on the way through nature

We discover a monolith that reminds me of the Standing Stones in the British Isles. A labyrinth is carved into it, and my gaze is lost in its confusion. In a hut that reminds me of the mountain huts on Alpine pastures, we find stacks of firewood. A tepee transports me to the prairies of America.

Again and again, we find benches at the edge of the forest that provide shade from the summer heat, allowing us to take in the beauty of these places. Together with the surrounding nature of the Vienna Woods, I soon feel the calming effect these places have on me. I begin to watch for butterflies.

My gaze wanders up over the wooded mountain slopes, and I listen to the gurgling and babbling of the stream winding its way through the forest behind me. I love water, especially on hot summer days like this. Just the thought of it makes me feel cooler.

Overview of Spirit Park stations

This is reinforced by the Fairy Tale Square, a shady spot on the banks of the Schwechat, surrounded by old deciduous trees, under which various stone figures stimulate the imagination. Here I am looking for a seat and enjoy the place, which exerts a beneficial effect on me. It's hard for me to leave him, but there are more places of power waiting to be discovered by us.

The Krainerhütte – more than a seminar hotel

Just a few steps further, I find a sweat lodge, which – as the hotel manager of the Krainerhütte later tells us – is actually used for this purpose. Now, however, we only see the poles to which the conifer branches are attached, transforming the round frame into a hut. Inside, a kind of natural sauna is created. I find the biotope particularly beautiful: an artificial pond, along whose banks a few lounge chairs await sunbathers. However, the sun is too hot at midday for me to accept the invitation. Instead, I enjoy the view of the blooming water lilies in the pond and the view of the hills of the Vienna Woods for a few minutes before we move on to the totem poles, whose carvings seem more European than Native American.

Discover nature & enjoyment in the Helenental

Our way back to the hotel leads along shady paths, past a circle of trees. Our gaze sweeps once again over the Spirit Park grounds, which had a lasting effect on me and made our stay at the Krainerhütte event and seminar hotel in the Vienna Woods something very special. For those who would like to share this experience with others, the hotel offers free introductory and evening courses with Austrian shamans during the summer months, where you can experience the sounds of drums, singing, and conversations at the campfire Relax and recharge your batteries. Just 25 kilometers from Vienna, the power spots in the Spirit Park at the Krainerhütte event and seminar hotel are definitely worth a visit.
