A visit to this Kassel restaurant is worthwhile

The atmosphere in the Zum Rammelsberg brewery is quaint. The fact that it fills up more and more as the hours go by shows how popular it is. The guests obviously feel at home here. We are curious and are not disappointed.

Eating well in Kassel in the brewery to Rammelsberg

It is only a few minutes' walk from our hotel, the Schweizer Hof on Wilhelmshöher Allee, to the Brauhaus zum Rammelsberg in Kassel. The city of Kassel was almost completely destroyed during the Second World War. There are only a few remnants of the once fashionable place. The Kassel Restaurant Brauhaus zum Rammelsberg is worth a visit for this reason alone. It is part of an ensemble of old half-timbered houses grouped around a square and looks very inviting with its half-timbered facade. The motto "Your friendly brewery" is also promising. This is also true - as we have found - in the service.

Have a nice meal in this Kassel restaurant

We take a seat in the dining room, which is rustically furnished with wooden tables, wooden walls, indirect light and candlesticks and is well attended. The guests feel at home in this Kassel restaurant. We not only filter out Hessian chunks from the babble of voices, but also one or the other English sentence. This shows that the visitors to the brewery are international. Apparently it's not just us who want to eat well in Kassel. The ambience reminds me a little of one of my student bars. I spent whole nights with my college friends discussing them and having a lot of fun. I like the atmosphere and we're excited to see what the food is like.

Caution: there are large portions in this Kassel restaurant

We got hungry during our visit to the water features in the Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe and ordered a plate of antipasti, which we shared as a starter. Petar had a beer-coach steak for the main course and I chose roast pork with apple red cabbage and bread dumplings. The starter plate in this Kassel restaurant is a poem. With zucchini and eggplant, olives, mushrooms, salami, vitello tonato, dried tomatoes, bruschetta with diced tomatoes, and other delicacies, the plate of antipasti alone would have been enough to fill us up after our tour of the water features. Add a glass of apple wine and you're guaranteed a dinner you won't soon forget.

When I look at the main courses, I know immediately that we won't be able to manage these quantities. Each of us receives two pieces of meat with vegetables and side dishes. If we had known beforehand how big the portions are in this Kassel restaurant, we would have done without the starter. However, then we would have been poorer by one experience. This is how we enjoy this and part of our main course. Finally, full, satisfied and tired, we leave this restaurant, which we gladly recommend to you. Our tip is: order a course first and then see if you are still hungry. The portions in the Brauhaus zum Rammelsberg are huge. You can eat well here in Kassel.

Eating well in Kassel: Café Nenninger

Café Nenninger reminds me a little of the with its nostalgic interior and the cakes on the counter of the pastry shop Viennese coffee houses. The selection of cakes in this Kassel restaurant made my mouth water. There is a Fürstentorte, raspberry cakes, chocolate cakes and an assortment of cakes in the shape of a bear or a heart. Even a Barbie cake is offered. With this selection of cakes you always win my heart.

Hessian specialties must be in a Kassel restaurant

The only difference was that our conversation at the table was about Kassel and Hessian specialties, which prompted the waitress to offer us a plate of it. "This is how you can try the regional specialties," she says, and presents us with a plate of green sauce and awl sausage. Of course, as a non-Kasseler, we are interested in what you eat in this city. That turns out to be a good decision. I especially liked the green sauce, a kind of herb sauce with boiled egg and warm potato. I'll be sure to look out for that next time I visit Hesse.
